Digital Radiology

“X-rays” have greatly evolved over the years. They are now rapid digital images that are produced within seconds. These images are extremely detailed allowing us to view fine internal details. Some features of our machine include image enlargement, image manipulation, light contrasts, image storage, measurement tools, and more. Each image can be compared to a previous x-ray of your pet or a “normal” or “abnormal” image from another patient. This machine gives us the ability to look at your pet’s tissues, organs, and bones. It can also help us look for things like arthritis, enlarged organs, lung/heart function, broken/fractured bones, and foreign bodies (objects that may cause a blockage.) The digital machine also gives us the ability to share the image with other veterinarians or specialists with just the click of a button.

Laboratory Testing and Diagnostics

When our pets are not feeling well, diagnostics are often required to provide additional information to help narrow what may be going on. These diagnostic tests help us take a look at how the pets internal organs are functioning. We are equipped with IDEXX Laboratory Equipment which allows us to receive critical lifesaving results, often within a few minutes. We can run blood (CBC, Chemistry, Electrolytes), urine, and fecal tests in-house. This allows for a faster diagnosis and treatment plan. We can also send off different diagnostic tests to our reference laboratory for things like tissue biopsies or cultures. The diagnostic results provide the patient with a more targeted and effective treatment plan.
